Biography
George “GStar” is an American entrepreneur, rapper, singer-songwriter, and fashion designer. He is known for becoming a self-made millionaire through his logistics and metal recycling businesses, along with his real estate investments, being dubbed “King of the Down Markets.” His first rap EP, “Dark World,” was announced on December 11, 2020.[1]
Early life
GStar was born in Corona, Queens in New York City. He was raised by a single mother who worked many different jobs to provide for him. He often spent time in Florida, where his extended family members lived. GStar had a troubled childhood and was often involved in street fights. He practiced amateur boxing, winning local boxing awards and becoming ranked nationally at the age of 13.[2]
He was eventually expelled from school for repeated fighting and threats and spent time in a juvenile detention program known as C34 in New York until the age of 17. Initially self-educated, he attended the City University of New York and Hofstra University with his GED.
GStar starred in an episode of MTV’s True Life.[3] He moved to California after being offered his own reality show.
Business Career
GStar began a scrap metal and garbage collection business, which became his first million-dollar venture, making him a millionaire at age 21.[2] He also operated motor recycling firms in the United States and Russia.[4]
GStar also made large profits from real estate investing during the downturn of the Miami housing crisis. In addition to his assets in Miami, he also has real estate investments in cities such as Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York, and even overseas in Costa Rica.[1][5] His real estate investments have generated more than $65 million.[1][5]
GStar also owns businesses in industries such as trucking, personal lending,[1] CBD, affiliate marketing, and entertainment.[2][4] His eight privately held companies have generated over $140 million in assets under management (AUM). He also owns websites that generate over $75 million in annual recurring revenue.[2]
GStar is also a speaker who has talked about topics such as leadership, real estate investing, entrepreneurship, finance, and social psychology.
Music Career
GStar began his career as a rapper by posting tracks to the audio streaming site SoundCloud. Record labels such as 8mm Entertainment expressed interest in signing him as an artist.[1] Eventually, Gstar announced “Dark World” as his debut single in December 2020. He also announced plans for a music video, which are currently on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic affecting large productions in Los Angeles.[1]
